Prince Akpabio doles out N2m as Business Support Grants to 20 Constituents

 

In keeping with his campaign promise of supporting constituents to be economically stable, the representative of Essien Udim state constituency, Barr Ukpong Akpabio has met with constituents from Afaha ward.

Barr Ukpong Akpabio who is the Chairman, House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges empowered twenty indigenes of the Ward with each going home with N100,000.00 Business Support Grant.

Addressing the gathering, Prince Ukpong Akpabio said, his decision to kick off his monthly empowerment in Afaha Ward was his little way of appreciating them for their love, support and solidarity to the PDP, especially for overwhelmingly voting for Governor Umo Eno and himself during the 2023 Governorship and State House of Assembly election.

He reterated his determination to change the narrative as far as legislative representation is concerned, noting with delight that he will not only ensure he visits one ward every last Sunday of the month to brief his constituents on his activities in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly but also empower a minimum of 20 indigenes in the community.

The lawmaker announced plans to ensure that starting from August 2023, he worships in a Church in the Ward he is to hold his the month’s empowerment.

In his goodwill message, the Leader of Afaha Ward and Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Rt Hon Sunyiekekere Inokon thanked Prince Akpabio for his love for Afaha people and for recognising the support and sacrifice they gave to the PDP, promising that the Ward will continue to keep faith with the party and government in the state.

He appealed to the Commissioner for Power, Hon Engr Camilus Umoh, to come to their aid by reconnecting the community to the national grid to accelerate socioeconomic development and small scale businesses in the community.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Essien Udim LGA, Hon Anthony Luke, said Afaha people are the highest risk takers in any election in Essien Udim, and commemded the lawmaker for keeping to his promise and giving the people a reason to continue to support the PDP.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Uduak Etim Udofia, thanked the lawmaker for fulfilling his campaign promise to Essien Udim people less than two months of assuming office, submitting that his gesture has gone a long way to building trust, confidence and faith in the PDP. He promised to make good use of the grant.

The beneficiaries include, Enameti Effiong Enyiema, Udeme Etim Offiong, Iyakndue Okon Umoren, Ubong Marcus Jimmy, Mrs Nsini Nicolas Udombre, Uduak Etim Udofia, Udeme Udo Afangide, Donatus Sylvanus Ekanem, Glory Okon Uke and Inemesit Emmanuel.

Others are Mary Felix Ukpe, Mfon Emman Ebe, Mrs Eno fidelis Gabriel, Enameti Etim Umoren, Ekemini Usoroh, Happiness Emman Isaac, Mercy Ini Okon, Xavier Etim ldio, Ememobong Peter Robert and Iboro Etim Umoh.
