Construction works on the corporate headquarters of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) is set to break ground next month, marking a significant milestone for the corporation.

This exciting development was announced by the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), Mr Imo-Abasi Jacob, during the February edition of the corporation’s fasting and prayer session, held at the boardroom.

According to the MD/CEO, the corporation had been without a permanent building for over 26 years, making this new development a dream come true. He expressed gratitude to the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who he said, generously provided the corporation with its own building.

With this development, the MD emphasized the need for staff to put in their best efforts as an act of appreciation for the Governor’s benevolence. He said that the corporation was recalibrating its operation, to the extent that excuses would no longer be tolerated as only results would count.

He congratulated the Head of Human Resources and General Administration, Mr Ekpedeme Sambo, who won the Governor’s outstanding staff of AKICORP award. He affirmed that it was a merited recognition and urged other staff to follow his example as their hardwork would be rewarded.

The AKICORP boss also emphasized the importance of harmony amongst staff, to boost production, cautioning that conflict and resentment would hinder performance.

He further used the opportunity to encourage staff to utilize the state government’s farm days wisely, and aimed for AKICORP’s representation at the next home farm award.

To promote staff engagement in farming, the MD offered a significant incentive, directing that the corporation’s property at Shelter Afrique be allotted to interested staff for farming. However, he clarified that farm days are not holidays, and the corporation would reward staff who presented evidence of their farming engagements
