The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, has sent forth another set of three Akwa Ibomites to Coventry University, United Kingdom, for an all-expense-paid Masters programme.

This is in continuation of fulfilment of Rep. Idem’s promise to train 100 Akwa Ibomites abroad for self sufficiency and value addition to the state.

The beneficiaries are;

Abasiyianga-owo John Obot, (Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency) Oil and Gas Management.

Edikan Saturday Michael (Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency) International Business Management.

Precious John Ekong (Uyo Federal Constituency) Molecular biology.

The overseas Masters programme, facilitated by Rep. Idem, is funded by the Federal Government.

Addressing the beneficiaries in the presence of their families, at a brief send forth ceremony in his office at the National Assembly complex, Abuja, Rep. Idem, who also provided them with financial support of one million Naira each, urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and country, and take their studies serious.

“You’re part of the 100 Akwa Ibom youths I promised to train abroad for self sufficiency, value addition to state and global competitiveness.”

“Everything you need to be comfortable in the UK has been provided. Your school fees, accommodation, feeding, ticket to and from the UK, and other sundry expenses have been taken care of, so I expect you to study and come out as the very best. Make me proud. Make Akwa Ibom state proud. Make Nigeria proud. Remember that you’re our ambassadors in the UK.”

“The programme allows you to take up part time jobs at your convenience, so make good use of this opportunity.”

“Do not forget, this training is to afford you the opportunity to gather the necessary knowledge and exposure needed for your self development and the transformation of Akwa Ibom state. So as you go, bear in mind that you’ll come back and also train others. That’s one sure way to developing our state to compete globally. I do this bearing in mind that you’re tomorrow’s leaders, so we must invest in you.”

Responding, the beneficiaries thanked Rep. Idem, who Chairs the House Committee on Public Procurement, for the gesture and promised to make him, the state and country proud.
